Moqui Ball Tektites: Everything looks better under petrographic scope polarization

Processing the sandstone concretion inside the Moqui Ball was quite easy and quick. Getting thin sections made took some time as we have a new undergrad assistant with us this fall, Kim Tercero. She’s trudging along and making great strides. Here’s a few images from her first successfully polished thin section!

Sincerely hoping to move this line of investigation along some time with a researcher with expertise on the Navajo Sandstone and the Moqui Balls themselves … will keep you posted. Until then, happy HAPPY hApPy HaPpY FRIDAY!!!
