Indian Summer in Western New York

Today it hit a beautiful sunny 80 degrees just outside of Buffalo on 18 Mile Creek, allowing for a great morning out with Gary and his new student, Jen, from East China University. Finishing up our upper Rhinestreet Member tektite investigation by picking up samples from the areas of highest counts to check for sideraphiles and constrain the lower boundary.

We have lucked out this season accessing the outcrop with ease all thanks to Tom at a local dairy farm in Eden.

And I had no idea there are crawdads in the creeks around here! Someone put on that Elvis tune….

Now take Mr. Crawfish in your hand
He’s gonna look good in your frying pan
If you fry him crisp or you boil him right
He’ll be sweeter than sugar when you take a bite
Crawfish!!!
